Crown Point Community School Corporation Awarded Continuing Worldwide Accreditation

 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – September 10, 2014

Superintendent Dr. Teresa A. Eineman announced today that Crown Point Community School Corporation earned continuing accreditation from the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), an accreditation division of AdvancED.  This action was taken at the AdvancED Accreditation Commission meeting held on June 26 and presented during a ceremony in Indianapolis on September 8.  Crown Point Community School Corporation and all of its schools have been accredited since 2009.

NCA CASI provides nationally-recognized accreditation, the purpose of which is continuous school improvement focused on increasing student performance.  To earn accreditation, schools must meet NCA CASI’s high standards, be evaluated by a team of professionals from outside the school and implement a continuous process of school improvement.  Accreditation is granted on a five-year term.

The accreditation process involves three ongoing components:  1) meeting high quality standards; 2) implementing a continuous process of improvement; and 3) engaging in quality assurance through internal and external review.  The corporation’s accreditation is for a five-year term with regular monitoring of progress and reporting occurring during the term.

“Corporation Accreditation as conferred by the AdvancED Accreditation Commission provides Crown Point Community School Corporation a nationally-recognized mark of quality for our corporation,” shared Superintendent Eineman.  “It demonstrates to our parents, students and education partners our commitment to excellence, our openness to external review and feedback and our desire to be the best we can be on behalf of the students we serve.”

“Accreditation demonstrates to our students, parents and community that we “pull together” to focus on raising student achievement, provide a safe and enriching learning environment, and maintain an efficient and effective operation staffed by highly qualified educators,” stated Principal Pettit.

NCA CASI accreditation is recognized across state lines, which not only eases the transfer process as students move from accredited school to accredited school but also assures parents that the school is meeting nationally accepted standards for quality and successful professional practice.

Dr. Mark Elgart, President/CEO of AdvancED, the parent organization of NCA CASI, stated, “Corporation Accreditation is a rigorous process that focuses the entire school corporation on the primary goal of creating lifelong learners.  Crown Point Community School Corporation is to be commended for engaging in this process and demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement.”
