YOUNG HOOSIER BOOK AWARD PROGRAM
Lake Street School is participating in the Indiana Library Federation sponsored program to stimulate recreational reading among all of our students. Each year, ILF committee members select 20 nominees for each category (Picture Book, Intermediate, Middle Grades) from titles suggested by teachers, students, parents, public librarians, and media specialists.
HOW IT WORKS:
Mrs.Govert will read out loud and discuss books from the picture book category to all K-3 students. During the week of April 18th, students will be able to vote on their favorite book. Mrs. Govert will tally all votes and send them to the ILF in Indianapolis.
Students participating in the intermediate program will select a minimum of 5 out of 20 intermediate books and read them before April 8th. In order for a book to qualify, the student must pass the AR quiz on each title read. We will celebrate by having a Hoosier Book breakfast celebration before school for all intermediate participants. Qualifying participants will receive an invitation.
New incentive for 4th and 5th graders!!!
For each intermediate book read and tested on with a passing score of 60% or better, Mrs. Govert will award "double" the points earned for that book! Students just need to fill out the "RED" form in the library and turn it in.
